Qatar

This is the first in a series of blog posts looking at the export markets being supplied by Arpal Gulf based in Dubai, now and in the future. The focus this week is Qatar.

There can be few more exciting places to do business than Qatar. A wind of change is blowing through the country thanks to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Forbes Magazine has ranked Qatar as the richest country in the world beating powerful nations like Luxemburg, Switzerland and USA. It has the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per head and ranks 16th in the Global Competitiveness Index, second only to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. With the third largest economy in the GCC, after Saudi Arabia and the UAE, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts that Qatar will have the highest real growth in the region over the next 4 years. With planned expenditure of US$220 billion over the next 7 years, Qatar has one of the most ambitious infrastructure programmes in the world.

The Qatar National Vision (QNV) provides clear plans for transforming Qatar into an advanced country by 2030, capable of sustaining its own development and providing a high standard of living for all its residents with better infrastructure, airport, railway and metro network.  The country is also gearing up to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 which will provide a further major boost to the construction, facilities management (FM) and hospitality industries; sectors where Arpal Gulf and Arpal Qatar have particular strengths.
